EUROWA at the 2024 IOSC

EUROWA experts had a great opportunity to highlight our work at the 2024 International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC), which took place in New Orleans. This is a key international event bringing together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to address oil spill preparedness and response.

EUROWA was well represented at the conference, with several members of the network and secretariat staff in attendance. Our presence, alongside other global wildlife response organisations, underscored the importance of protecting wildlife during oil spill incidents and allowed us to showcase our unique position as the only international wildife response NGO network in Europe.  Edel Shanahan from Sea Alarm presented the EUROWA philosophy, recent technical achievements and tools developed out of the EUROWA-2 project (access the conference paper here). EUROWA was also shortlisted in the IOSC film contest with our animation video outlining what authorities should do to prepare for an oiled wildlife response.
