Scottish SPCA

Mission of the organisation

Since its establishment in 1839, the Scottish SPCA has been dedicated to advancing animal welfare across Scotland. The organisation addresses the needs of domestic, wild and farmed animals through a comprehensive approach that includes enforcement, rescue and rehabilitation. Our inspectors investigate welfare concerns, neglect and criminal offences involving animals.
In addition, we operate nationwide wildlife rescue services and manage a rehabilitation facility in central Scotland that admits between 4,000 and 6,000 casualties annually.
As part of the societies work to improve animal welfare, education is a key component to this in order to increase public awareness and knowledge of the welfare issues that animals face. The society also focuses on advocacy and campaigns to improve legislation for animal welfare in Scotland.
